Not everyone can afford a custom painted car. But the good news is that you can do it yourself. Yes painting a car professionally, easily and inexpensively is possible. Just follow these tips and your loved auto will have a new look in less than 7 hours.
The right weather
It is better to paint in hot and dry weather. If the weather is cold or humid, the coats will take a lot of time in setting and drying. When the paint doesn’t dry quickly, it has a tendency to run and drip.
Preparing to paint
Your car has to go a simple and straightforward pre-painting mechanism.. Remove all the dirt, tar and dried bugs if any. Wash it with a PH neutral soap solution. Dry with a 100% cotton towel. Now by using a wire, join the chassis frame under your car with any grounded object. This would discharge all the static charge from the body of your car to ensure that it doesn't attract any dust now. The body of the car should be totally dry before you begin painting. Put masking tape on all those parts of the car’s body that don’t need to be painted. If you do it properly, the paint will have an immaculate finish.
Applying putty and primer
If there are any patches or scratches on the car body, rub them with sand paper and then even them out by using good quality car putty. Apply the primer evenly on the entire surface to be painted. Afterwards, scrub the primer carefully with sandpaper till the entire surface is evened out. If your car is new or you have a special antique collector car, plan on spending extra time sanding and re-sanding, and fine sanding.
Applying the paint
Select a urethane-based paint for color. Apply the base coat using a spray gun. Let the paint dry for ten to fifteen minutes. Apply the final coat and let it dry for thirty to ninety minutes. Apply three clear coats after the color has dried. Dry between coats for at least fifteen minutes.
So there you have it. Take your newly fixed up car out on the road and enjoy the attention it grabs.
Running low on money and want to keep your car clean? Forget the wash stations, do it yourself. Car washing was never so easy before our experts came up with these tips. Inspect the Pre-wash Areas. Some areas need your attention before you actually start washing the car. Look closely at the lower body panel areas for signs of road tar. Also check the front section of the car, bumpers, the areas around headlights and air dam for dried bugs. You can find special solvents made especially for removing road tar at the same place you purchase your car wash soap. Remember it is easier to see and treat these "pre-wash" areas when the car is dry. Car exterior is different from your hair or dishes. Specialized car cleaners are usually pH controlled, contain gloss enhancers and some even have small amounts of water-soluble wax for good measure. Rush to the auto store; grab the right cleaning products for your car. Use the right sponge. Use a soft sponge or mitt. Friction is not good for your car paint. There have been great advances in the types of materials available for non-friction washes. Now soft foam brushes are available at auto shops specifically designed to protect your car. . Remember to frequently rinse whatever you use. You don’t want the dirt or grime to get back on the car. Do you? Avoid the sun. Wash the car in a covered area or shady place. The sun will dry the water on the car surface very quickly, leaving marks that are very hard to clean. Spray water evenly. Use a trigger nozzle on the end of the hose. If gives an even spray and also conserves water. Invest in cotton towels. Nothing works better than 100% cotton. If you use everyday towels or rags from around your home to dry your car, you are taking the chance that the particles left over from their last use will also make fine scratches in the paint finish. Wax is overrated. Car requires waxing only once very three months. Wax the car only when it is completely dry. Do not overuse it.
Cars – Car Driving Basics for a New Driver
So you love driving and have an accident free driving record. Everyone complements on how a good driver you are. It is definitely a good idea if you take teaching people how to drive as a career. Before you register yourself as a driving instructor there are a few basic things you should know that should be taught to a new driver.
Before actual driving
- Information about license and registration etc.
Your student must have all the information about car registration and the license rules. These might be different in different states. So research thoroughly before you explain them to your student.
- Information about car insurance
Whether it is your car or your student’s, both of you should have a full knowledge about the insurance of the car you are using. There are many different types of insurances; don’t get confused. If both of you have full knowledge about the insurance, it would save you from a lot of trouble in case of any accident or mishap.
- Checking the car
Some things need to be checked before the car is moved. All the lights, mirrors, car wipers and seat belts should be in proper working condition. Front and rear windshields should be clean to ensure visibility. Seat positions, rear and side view mirrors should be also be adjusted before driving.
Before accelerating
- knowledge of brakes
The student should develop a good knowledge of brakes before actually putting them to use.

If the car is has the manual transmission system the positions of all the gears should be memorized. Make your student practice to change gears without shifting his/her eyes from the windshield.
While accelerating
Tell your student that it is very important to have a smooth acceleration, as well as a smooth brake. Failing to achieve this is equivalent to failing to learn driving.
Don’t take the student out on the roads in the initial days of learning. When accelerating, turning and braking become smooth, try simple and traffic free routes. Don’t go on highways or high traffic roads before 20 days of training.
With these tips in mind, not only you will be comfortable but also your student is going to value you for the rest of his/her life. Have fun teaching and have a safe drive.
So you need a car but can’t decide whether or not to buy a new or a used one? The article is just for you. I have listed the advantages and disadvantages of both. Go through them and make a wise decision.
Affordability
The major advantage of a used car lies in its affordability. The cost of car depreciates sooner than any of the commodities you may think of. Use this fact for your benefit. If you give your search a little more valuable time and effort, you can find only a few months old car at amazingly low prices. Sometimes even it is possible to transfer the warranty in our name, provided you buy the car in its warranty period. If you buy a car off-lease it is most probable, that it would be single handedly driven and will be in flawless condition. Variety The used cars usually come in more colors, models and makes than the new ones. So you get a huge palette to choose from. Don’t limit yourself to any particular make, model or color to use this fact to your full advantage. No loaning or financing facility A disadvantage of the used cars is that no loaning or financing facility is available for used car. If you do not have lump sum, you are better off with a brand new car. No guarantee Also there is no guarantee that the car is free from any kind of accident or maintained and serviced properly. Sometimes the amount of money spent on a used car equals the price of its brand new counterpart. Though used cars may come with many advantages, still buying a used car is not everyone’s cup of tea. If you are generally very knowledgeable about cars, you can easily find one that suits your requirement. But if you know little or nothing about cars, a used car may ruin the peace of your mind for ever by its unending problems. So analyze where you stand financially and in terms of car knowledge and decide which option suits you the best.
